Cloud Engineer - Digital

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

• You’ll work in one of our offices in Greater China as part McKinsey Digital. This group brings together the best of McKinsey’s digital capabilities to help our clients use digital technology to transform their businesses.
• As part of this group, you’ll join a global team working on everything from IT modernization and strategy to agile, cloud, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. You’ll typically work on projects across all industries and functions and will be fully integrated with the rest of our global firm.
• You’ll also work with colleagues from across McKinsey & Company to help our clients deliver breakthrough products, experiences, and businesses, both on technology and non-technology topics.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• In this role, you will develop the blueprints of commonly used application services. You will contribute and learn multiple technology skills (cloud, container orchestration, network, operating system) with a strong focus on open source products.
• You will work with various product teams with a focus on high application reliability, scalability and availability running in container infrastructure. You will help develop and operate multiple complex features and components simultaneously that includes cloud adoption plans, cloud native application blueprints and cloud orchestration and monitoring. You will focus heavily on development of reusable solutions and underlying automation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent subject
• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering Hands on engineering experience with at least one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure)
• Good understanding of secure coding practices, code quality and engineering practices such as test-driven development
• Experience with DevOps tools for CI/CD, version control (CircleCI, GitHub)
• Hands on experience with programming and scripting language(e.g. Python, Go)
• Experience in software engineering is a plus (e.g. Java, Ruby, Node.js or others)
• Ability to build architectural solutions as infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Cloud Formation) based on Cloud native products like Lambda functions or RDS
• Strong understanding of presentation tiers (Apache, Tomcat, Nginx)
• Good understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP and load balancing
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and the local office language(s)
